Post-MRI and surgery time

Emily had her MRI on Monday... It was a pretty smooth process. We got there a little after 12:00. They did all of the pre-sedation stuff (vital signs, health history, etc.) in an exam room and then I carried Emily back to the MRI room. I held her in my lap and because she already had IV access (the PICC line), all they had to do was administer the sedation medication while she was in my lap. She fussed for a minute then went limp and fell asleep. I laid her on the MRI table, they hooked her up to the vital sign machine, and they told me to come back in 30-45 minutes.

I took Megan and Kailey to the cafeteria, got some lunch, and headed back to the recovery room. When we got there, Emily was screaming. She had her eyes closed but was really upset. The nurses said that she woke up too early and really needed to go back to sleep. I nursed her and then she slept for about 1 1/2 hours. At that point, the nurses wanted her to wake up. I changed her diaper and she woke up pretty easily... She was happy and acted like a drunk 9 month old. They warned me, however, that she may be fussy and irritable for the next 24 hours.

Haaa!!! MAY be fussy? We stopped at Old Navy on the way home and she SCREAMED!!! It was the inconsolable, loud screaming. Poor thing... Had no idea what she wanted. The rest of the night was kind of the same... Drunk, bobbling head... Fussing and crying whenever she wasn't nursing.

Thank heavens she went to bed easily at around 9:00 p.m. and slept all night. She woke up a new baby and was back to her happy, smiley self.

Below is a picture right after she woke up in recovery...

We have to be at PCMC at 7:15 a.m. for the surgery (surgery actually starts at 8:45). I will post an update tomorrow on how it went and how Emily is doing. Thanks for all your support, love, and prayers.
