Our poor swollen baby!!

Emily had a pretty good night. She slept in her crib (well, in between medication administration, vital sign checks, etc.) and I slept on the LITTLE fold out chair/bed. I woke up a lot... It seems that most of the night, either the nurses were in or her pulse ox monitor was going off. Her oxygen rate kept dipping down to the mid-80's while she was sleeping... At one point, it was low even while she was nursing. The nurse came in and loosened her ace bandage/wrap to see if it helped. It did for awhile, although it was in the low 80's this morning. Emily was on blow-by oxygen most of the night. The nurse talked to the doctors this morning and they aren't too concerned... They think that it's pretty likely that it is due to the pain medication she is on. We are going to keep a close eye on her tonight.

As you can see in the below picture, Emily has been really swollen. They discontinued her IV fluid last night because she had severe fluid overload. Yesterday she was also very itchy... She dug at her eyes and face for most of the day. Finally last night, the nurse got an order for Benadryl. She looked much better after....

We are still scheduled to be discharged tomorrow. They still need to do the CT scan, remove the drain from her armpit, etc. After we go home, Emily will be continued on the IV antibiotics for 3 more days as a precaution to prevent infection.

Ryan brought Megan up to the hospital to see the baby and I. She was very sweet and concerned about Emily. She is now playing at her cousin's house (Ashley).

Her cheeks are even more chubby with all of the fluid!

Enjoying playing in jail (the crib)

This is Camey Sant from the ward. I hope you are all doing fine. I had no idea. Will everything get better now that she has had this surgery? I am still a little confused about it. I will have to have Kailey update me on Sunday. When you get a chance e-mail me at camgirl_8@msn.com and I will invite you to my blog.
