I lurve the House of Smith's blog. Her favorite paint colors are :
Here is a shot of her entryway:
And a wall in her living room.
I am loving the blue/gray color. The lightness/airiness of the white against the blue.
Here is a bathroom done on another blog with a blue/gray color.
And just for kicks... Look at her pantry on the House of Smith's....
Okay, so here is my dilemma. Do I repaint the top of the living room with the blue gray color? Get rid of the valance and add some gauzy white curtains and leave the couch as is? As much as I would love to get a new couch, it's not in the budget.
The painting above the piano is staying as well as the sewing machine and chair but I am up to moving around and painting most anything else.
Please, please I need some help!!! My husband is well, a man. He would have been happy with his parents decor from 1970. I am feeling the need to lighten, brighten, open up and cheer up. I do have a couple of other dilemmas that go along with this dilemma that I will save for another post.
Please post any suggestions that you have - good, bad, or anything else. You won't hurt my feelings - I need your help!!!!

I say go for it! There are so many other options for neutrals that go beyond Tobacco Road. I happen to LOVE gray.
Okay I love your couch! I like it so much better then the slip cover and you can so make this work. You have awesome ideas, and you are so good with color! I would go with that light blue gray color on the wall and do the white curtains or tan curtains I say tan so they tie into your pillows on the couch or you can do the green color for curtains to add in a little bit of color. either way just play with it. I'm sure it will turn out great!
Here's my opinion! I don't like the blue/gray that seems to be popular. I know that gray is popular right now, but to me, in the house, it is depressing, not airy and open and springy.
My thought is to match the blue that's in the couch for your wall paint and leave the couch uncovered. Or paint the walls a soft beige color and do a valance in similar colors to the couch.
The other thing that crossed my mind was to get a red couch cover and leave everything else as is, but you mentioned you're tired of the red, so that's ok.
Good luck! Post pictures when you're done. I always enjoy seeing the projects you've finished!
