Lovin' me some under-the-cabinet and over-the-picture lighting!!

Well, thanks to my awesome husband, I have some beautiful new lighting and I am so in love...

One of my "wants" on my Christmas list was some under-the-cabinet and rope lighting for my kitchen.  Lucky me, Santa brought me some Xenon accent lights.  Ryan and I tried to figure out exactly how to install these AND put them on a dimmer switch.  After 3 days of working on them and some electrical manipulating, my husband was successful and I came home from work tonight to this:

Oh - happy, happy day!!  I can't stand overhead lighting and these lights are perfect!!  Now, the cord from the mixer and the utensils drive me crazy but I am delighted with the lights!!  And they are on a dimmer switch!!  There isn't a light on the left side of the stove because we have a radio/CD player there and there is a light on that.

Last Christmas, I got a picture light to hang above my amazing picture that hung in my Grandma's house. Under the frame of the picture, we found a newspaper dated to 1905!!   Anyway, I put the light in my front closet and kind of forgot about it.  While Ryan was in the "lighting" mood, I got him to hang the light above my picture (which hangs above the piano).

Again, heart felt love!!  It adds a beautiful accent to the living room and through the front window.  Now, there will be decor put on the piano to cover the cord (dang pesky cords again - I have a thing with cords).

My project tomorrow is to install the rope lighting above the crown molding on the cabinets (and to paint the family room).

If you want to put under-the-cabinet lighting in and don't want to bother with electrical stuff, there are lots and lots of different kinds of battery operated LED lights (some even on dimmers or that can be rotated to focus on different areas) at Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, and the like.  They aren't very expensive and make such a difference in a room...
