Glowing Jack O'Lantern How-to

Over the last few days, the kids and I have been working on a Halloween project.  I was a little nervous...  I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to projects.  I have a hard time letting my kids "help" as things don't always turn out the way I want them to.  But luckily, this project is perfect for kids.  Nothing has to be perfect.

These Glowing Jack O'Lanterns are cheap and fun to have on the front porch for Halloween.  Here is a picture of 5 of ours...  (We made 10 total but I couldn't get the other picture to turn out.)

I wish I could say that I came up with these cuties all on my own but unfortunately, I can't.  I owe this fun idea to the blogger Emily at Not So Idle Hands.  She has the most creative ideas.  Plus, she is an awesome photographer!

I didn't take pics of my step by step, so I here is a link to hers...  Glowing Jack O'Lanterns.  She shows you exactly how to make them.  All you need are jars (I used mason jars - quart and pint), tissue paper, Modge Podge, and a string of Christmas lights.  For the faces, she has a link to the templates.  They are .jpg files - you can just print them out and trace them on to black paper (and then Modge Podge that on).  I heart my Cricut for cutting vinyl, so I converted the files so that I could just cut them out on sticky black vinyl.  If you would like me to do this for you, just let me know!!

Best part of the whole project - I didn't spend any money!!!  I had everything on hand.  Zero cost holiday decor!  What could be better?  My kids love them and honestly, so do I!

I thinking I might even try a soda 2 liter bottle for a little more variety.
