Does summer really have to be over?

Wow... It's been a really long time since I updated my blog. What a slacker I am. And it's not just the updating - I haven't even taken pictures to put with an update.

Well, in lieu of a great photo posting, here's what going on with our family...

I was SO not ready for school to start this year!!! I love the laziness of the summer, the lack of structure and schedule. I love that the kids could play outside into the evening, I could stay up late and not have to worry about getting up early. There are so many fun things that I wanted to do with the kids this summer... It always goes by way too fast.

Kailey had a busy, fun summer. She went to girl's camp and was able to go to my sister's house in California for a week. While at home, she spent most of her time with her best friend. She has been such a huge help to me - babysitting, cleaning house, helping me with errands. I have missed her so much since she has gone back to school. She is in 8th grade this year (I am old!!) and is going to start dance classes soon. She is enjoying being in the top grade at the junior high.

Tyler is in 5th grade this year. He has started soccer practice (his 5th year to play) and will hopefully be playing baseball this fall as well. So far, he is riding his bike back and forth to school and LOVES that he doesn't have to sit around and wait for me to pick him up! He wishes that he could have spent more time fishing this summer - the biggest love of his life!!!

Megan started kindergarten (sniff, sniff). She could hardly wait to start and thought it was quite unfair that she started school after the older kids. She has really liked her teacher so far and thinks that recess is the coolest thing! She is trying to convince her brother to let her ride her bike home with him but he is protesting... He says that she rides too slow and that they won't get home until 5:00. I haven't quite decided what to do about that yet... Megan is going to start dance classes at the same studio that Kailey is taking them at - probably jazz or tumbling.

Emily is our 16-month-old jabber mouth. She has learned how to nod her head yes and any question that she is asked is answered by a very emphatic head bob. She loves her "baby" and "ba-ba"... It is so cute how she cuddles and loves on the dolls. She will follow Megan anywhere and luckily, Megan is very patient with her and will play with her. Emily is talking so much... Unfortunately, she says a lot but not "ma-ma" or "da-da" very often!! She loves to drive the "vroom-vroom" (car) and doesn't like to have "poop" in her diaper. She isn't quite walking yet, although she will take a couple of steps. What a sweet baby she is...

Ryan just got home from hunting for 5 days. Don't ask what he was hunting or with what weapon - I can never remember. He has several more hunting trips planned and since Ty has his hunter's safety certificate, Ty can actually hunt some small game this year with him.

As for me, I have continued to work 2 days/week. I am still loving my job, although the politics have been a little straining as of late. I have started many different craft projects and have not finished one. I painted the cabinets in my laundry room and will be painting the walls as well. I have so many ideas floating around in my head and don't have the energy/time to do any of them.

As the kids are back to school and I have some time to myself in the afternoon, I am going to try to be better about posting on my blog. I promise.
