I guess she and Kailey rode their electric scooters to Maverik to get Icee's. Kailey was on her way back from Maverik trying to ride and hold her Icee at the same time. Well, somehow she lost her balance and fell on her hand/arm trying to catch herself. Her hand was cut up, as well as some road rash on her elbow, hip, and knee. I knew that her wrist didn't look good - it was really swollen and she couldn't move it. After dinner, we went over to Dr. Gould's office (pediatrician). We saw his PA and she sent us to the hospital for x-rays.
We hand-delivered the x-rays back to Dr. Gould's office and Jennifer (the PA) informed us that Kailey has a "buckle" fracture in her wrist. She put a hard splint on it and we have to see an orthopedist in 5-7 days, at which time they will cast it for 6-8 weeks.
This is a first for our family... I can't believe that none of my kids have ever had a broken bone. Poor Kailey - she has to start junior high with a cast. She spent the rest of the night thinking of all of the things that she can't do/will be hard to do. Luckily it is her left wrist...
