Well, after a week of painful nursing, I went to see a Lactation Consultant yesterday. She told us that Emily has a 3rd degree tongue tie. Basically this means that the little piece of tissue that anchors the tongue is too short. This is not allowing Emily to keep her tongue where she needs to and can potentially affect speech, eating, etc. I have an appointment with our pediatrician tomorrow to get a referral to an ENT at Primary Children's. Hopefully this will help with some of our issues...
Emily is doing well. Typical newborn - eats every 3-4 hours and sleeps in between. The kids are still fighting over holding her... I told my mom that we were going to have to create a sign-up sheet in 15 minute increments. I'm glad that they all love her so much, however.
My mom left yesterday after being here for 5 days. I am so grateful for all that she did while she was here!! Laundry, cooking, running kids everywhere, LETTING ME SLEEP IN!! We have really missed her since she has been in Alaska and can't wait for her to come home in 3 weeks!

Bless your heart! I pray that her little situation can be fixed easily. She is such a cutie, I'm so happy that your kids love her soooo much.

Britney had the issue, only opposite - her tissue was clear to the tip of her toungue so she had to have it clipped twice. What do they do for the tissue being to short I wonder...
Keep me informed!
